Rolled safety bars, choosing and measuring
First questions that come up when selecting a curtain:
* which type the curtain ought to be
* how much room there is to place the curtain
* should the curtain only protect from a stranger’s eyes or rather from sunlight
* is the curtain only for covering the opening or does it play an important part in interior design
Selection of the location of and measuring the curtain
The curtain can be attached to the window frame, inside the window opening or rather on the wall before the window opening.
The height of the window frame and the width between the outer edges of the glazing bar must be measured in order to attach to the window frame. NB! This method of measuring is not suitable for the measuring of the mini cassette Venetian blind! The width and height of the mini cassette Venetian blind are to be measured in the turning point of the glazing bar, or the spot where the bar turns towards the glazing from the plane of the frame. A necessary measure is also the distance of the glazing from the plane of the frame. The measure of the strip curtain LUX mounted on the window frame is equal to the size of the glazing. It is also necessary to measure the distance of the glazing from the plane of the frame.
When mounting in the window opening, first make sure that the curtain will not interfere with the window opening later on. For that purpose, 6-7 cm of free space must be left between the window frame opening inside and the upper edge of the opening. When measuring the opening, width at three heights of the location of the curtain – up, in the middle and down – and height at both edges must be measured. The smallest results of the measures obtained must be taken. NB! If the measures of the height or width of the opening in different corners vary more than 2 cm, we recommend mounting the curtain over the opening for a better result!
When mounting over the opening, measure the width and height of the opening and decide whether the curtain has the minimum measures recommended (see below) or the curtain reaches from wall to wall, ceiling to floor, etc. When mounting on the wall, make sure that there are no obstacles in the path of the curtain.
Minimum recommended measures when mounting curtains before the opening:
Venetian blind curtains: width of the opening + 10 cm, height of the opening + 10 cm
Aluminium strip curtains: width of the opening + 5 cm, height of the opening + 10 cm
Wooden strip curtains: width of the opening + 5 cm, height of the opening + 20-30 cm (height of the raised curtain pack)
Vertical lamella curtains: width of the opening + 30 cm, height of the opening + 10 cm
